 Connect Illinois Broadband Grant Program

Application Deadline Extended to April 14

Matt Schmit, Deputy Director for Broadband, announced Friday afternoon that the deadline for filing applications for the Connect Illinois Grant Program will be extended from April 10 to April 14. Here's the message that was sent by Matt Schmit last Friday:

Thank you for your continued interest in the Connect Illinois broadband grant program – and for your prior participation in our webinar series.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and strain it has placed upon our communities and broadband service providers alike, the Illinois Office of Broadband is extending the application deadline for our current funding round until 5pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. We recognize the hard work many applicants have invested in this grant process, the urgent need for better broadband access throughout the state, and the mounting challenges impacting nearly every aspect of our daily lives. For these reasons, we want to ensure that applications underway have an opportunity to be completed – and we want to help those eager to extend critical connectivity throughout un/underserved areas of the state make as much progress toward this end as soon as possible. As such, we do not anticipate another deadline extension.

Moving forward, we’ll add any additional guidance to our Applicant Update page within the Connect Illinois website.

Again, thanks for your continued interest in Connect Illinois – and the promise of ubiquitous broadband access throughout Illinois.

Be well,

Please contact Randy with any questions or concerns.
