The focus on broadband access couldn’t be greater. Elected officials, policy makers, and consumers all recognize how important broadband access has become. Illinois has resumed the Connect Illinois Broadband Grant Program to invest $350 million in partnership with broadband providers or other entities to expand access to unserved and underserved homes and businesses. At the same time, the Illinois Office of Broadband is developing its plan in conjunction with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to partner with broadband providers and other entities to invest more than $1 billion in Illinois through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program.
